CAD Assembly
Fully constrained, material defined, and toleranced assembly of the QD system.
When physically assembled, I will weld the QD body to the sleeve mount, then attach the pneumatic pistons to the sleeve mount. After threading the inside of the piston rod body mount holes (the part that pushes against rocket body) and attaching the piston rods to this mount, the only thing left will be physically placing the QD onto the fluid stem on the rocket.
In this assembly, I created a text file with global variables that were applicable to all parts and the full assembly. This proved very helpful when during the middle of my design, I had to switch the fill stem diameter from half an inch to a quarter of an inch. Additionally, having a full assembly was crucial for me as it let me observe potential flaws and improvements I could make to either help the function of my system or reduce complexity of manufacturing for specific parts.
